Fully Integrated Field2Base Solution Goes Live with Nationally Recognized Mass Excavation and Grading Contractor 

June 2007, Morrisville, NC – Field2Base’s patent pending tablet PC based field data collection solution has been deployed in combination with a partner firm’s software to provide a completely electronic field data collection and management reporting solution.  The combined solution allows management at the 600 employee firm to have near real time visibility into the status of projects including access to the status of resources (people and equipment) in the field. 

PNG Inc., a management consulting firm out of San Marcos, Ca, brought Field2Base to the client to fill a technology gap identified as part of a job cost accounting effort.  The client wanted more visibility into the daily status of jobs with an emphasis on identifying the location and use of equipment in the field.  While PNG principals were confident in their ability to manage the field data once collected, they were less sure how to efficiently gather the field data and communicate it back to the home office.  PNG identified Field2Base to provide the field data collection component of the solution. 

 In the combined solution, daily project information is collected by field personnel using Field2Base’s form automation software running on a Tablet PC.  Business rules within Field2Base are utilized to ensure data input by field personnel on forms is valid for processing.  Leveraging the Field2Base managed communications architecture, form data is then routed to the management dashboard system provided by PNG Inc.  Once in the dashboard system data can be accessed, sorted and reported by management users.  Updated data is then automatically routed back out to Field2Base to pre-populate forms used by field workers. All system communications are managed by Field2Base in the background with no field user interaction.

 The advantage to the client of the combined PNG/ Field2Base solution is that 1) field data is captured more timely and the data is of higher quality, 2) management team members have access to data in near real time whereas before daily jobsite data was often not available until days or weeks later and 3) there has been no loss of productivity by field resources as the easy to use interface of Field2Base has made technology adoption a non-issue.
